Dow Styrofoam™ can be used in a range of marine applications such as insulation for a houseboat, flotation device for a pontoon, or a lightweight and structural component of a racing yacht.
Styrofoam™ extruded polystyrene is well suited to marine applications due to it non-porous, closed cell structure which ensures that it retains its performance even when in permanent contact with moisture.
The high buoyancy properties of Dow Styrofoam™ make it an excellent choice when looking for a flotation device such as a pontoon. Styrofoam™ won’t break down over time and will last the life of the pontoon.
It’s high mechanical strength and lightweight properties make it ideal for use in yachts where composite technology is being used. Styrofoam™ can also be cut and shaped very accurately due to its homogeneous cell structure and uniform density.
