Dow Styrofoam™ is great for those interested in craft, model making and dioramas. The properties of Styrofoam™ make it easy to cut and shape with a range of tools including a hotwire cutter, serrated knife, hacksaw, floral knife or X-Acto knife. To cut a thick piece, or several sheets stacked together, try using an old electric knife.
Dow Styrofoam™ can be painted with an acrylic craft and/or water based paint. Solvent based paints may damage the foam. Some spray paints are safe to use - read the label carefully to determine whether or not it is foam approved.
For a fast, sure bond, use a low-temperature glue gun (using a non-solvent base such as an epoxy resin and/or polyurethane adhesive) which can be purchased from your local hardware store.
Dow Styrofoam™ boards are lightweight with a high compressive strength rating. Styrofoam™ is chemically and physiologically inert, it creates no dust and will not support mould or mildew and is non allergenic. Styrofoam™ is not a known food source to vermin or insects.
